Interview – Kirsten – The Little Wedding Helper

Its an absolute joy to introduce Kirsten to you. A regular exhibitor at Chosen Wedding Fair's Kirsten has become not only a friend but a massive inspiration to me in all that she does. And when I say all, I mean ALL - and this lady does a lot! I am often teased by people saying that I seem to be doing everything at the moment - and I often am, so its lovely to know that I am not alone in being rather ambitious (or just a massive dreamer) and reaching for the stars. Kirsten certainly has a great grasp on her star! Over the past few years Kirsten has not only won awards for her styling, been on the awards panel, written columns and articles for various wedding publications, organised pop-up wedding shops, champions wedding industry tweet... read more...

Getting the most out of Exhibiting

I’ve been asked a number of times to write a post about how to get the most out of exhibiting at a wedding fair. The truth is that until now I've put off doing it, not only because what works for some people works differently for others but because my response is going to be a little different from what I think people are expecting! I could very well make a check list for you of do’s and don’ts or remember this and forget that but I believe that a lot of that is to do with connection rather than sales or a specific check list as such. Perhaps a little out of the norm for what you may expect for someone who organises so many events but after working with 3000 creatives through organising Designer Maker Markets and Wedding fairs I... read more...

Is your website sad?

People get sad sometimes, so do websites. When a website gets sad you'll notice that it gets slow to use and in severe cases stops working entirely. In order to cheer up your website you're going to need to know that it's sad in the first place, this is why it's a great idea to have some sort of monitoring in place. There's nothing more discouraging than a slow website, it can massively increase your bounce rate (amount of users that load a page and immediately close the site) and can also hinder any chances of a potential sale or enquiry. Not to mention that Google also penalises slow sites within it's search rankings, so having a sad site can also mean that it will be difficult for people to even find you in the first place! Even... read more...

A little insight – behind ‘The Hub’.

I had the most wonderful and inspirational meeting with Victoria Stanton and Laura Caudery of Fetcham Park yesterday. Not only was the setting one of the most serene and pretty places I have ever had the pleasure in taking tea in (no I did not want to leave!), but it was incredible sharing thoughts, ideas and perceptions of the industry that we work in, with other people who are quite simply, on the same wave length and two of the nicest ladies that you could ever hope to meet! I can't possibly begin to tell you the feeling that I felt on leaving our meeting and you'll find out more about the plans we have to come very soon, but in short I came away feeling so excited about things that I could barely sit still!  Many of us in the... read more...

Interview: Sundari – The Wedding Stylist

So as you know, I have a lot of admiration for people in the industry who are championing their own brands / businesses and carving their own path forward, I know personally how much bravery and determination that can take. Being an independent business owner can certainly hold many challenges for us to all face and through our posts we're really hoping we can help you face these with a little more insight and share a few tips and tricks around the collective community.  Social media can present a whole host of options for us to market our small businesses and I'm a big believer in just how effective it can be. But knowing which avenue to take, be it Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Linkedin or Google +  can be really confusing.... read more...

Start here!

Hi there and thank you so much for dropping by! You're visiting at our go live point which is so exciting! I hope you like what you have seen and read about us so far. My intentions with the Chosen Wedding Collective online site here are to separate it from being just another blog. I want it to be an interactive place that you can visit, that you have input into and that you feel is really something useful that you can refer back to as and when.  I will be posting within the blog often during the lead up to our event The Hub - in June - where you can come and meet with us and other industry professionals, address business issues, enjoy a break from the norm and gain invaluable advice and inspiration. More information on that, our... read more...

Time Management FREE Printables!

Ok so hands up who's totally and completely organised out there? I for one cannot raise my hand on this issue. I'm great at organising things, yet without a 'to-do' list or records I fall to pieces.  Hands up anyone out there who has a love for that really satisfying feeling of ticking things off a to-do list? Yes, I've often been known to make additions to my list that I have already done, just so I can get that feeling of having achieved more!  I also find that I rest more peacefully if I have everything out of my mind and written down for the next day the evening before. So, knowing full well that many of you out there often spend nights still beavering away or waking up to add an extra item onto your list for the next day, just as... read more...

Interview: Charlie – The Female Photographer Association

I have a confession to make - I often have days where I feel a complete lack of inspiration, a drain on my brain power and energy and really want nothing more than bury my head from the ever increasing pile of emails that seem to be magically appearing in my inbox. When this happens I have discovered that there is nothing better to inspire myself than to read about other people's stories. Often I seek out an interview, a seminar or a class that I know will inspire and give me more information to help spur me along and fire up that motivation. Usually the media that I choose are from people who have been working hard at their own dreams or can help inspire or pass on knowledge that may help me to realise my own. This also forms the... read more...

The Power of being You – Yes, YOU!

I read a blog post a little while ago that really got me thinking. Well, thats not entirely true, at first it made me a bit mad, my reaction to it was a strong feeling of shock and disappointment but a while down the line and after it bothering me I made a conscious effort to figure out why. The post in question opened with the line 'You're wedding won't be unique or individual so you might as well stop trying now.' - How - aside from the obvious spelling faux pas - does that make you feel? Slightly enraged, confused or otherwise? For me, being engaged and planning my own wedding I felt aggrevated. I don't want to be told that my wedding won't be unique. As far as weddings go, ok theres a format that is often the same (Q: would it be a... read more...

Interview: Emma – Coco Wedding Venues

There are an incredible amount of really talented people within the wedding industry. That is such a huge and true statement I feel it deserved its own line! Yet when it comes to standing out in the industry, I'm a big believer that branding above so many other things makes a huge difference and is an incredibly important place to start. Your brand consists of not only your colour scheme, your chosen fonts or uniformity but presents the world with a face and a personality too. Express this well and people will feel they know you have more heart than those other empty corporate style run of the mill businesses out there. But more on branding to come in another post soon. A fairly young business that we have a lot of admiration for is... read more...
