“The baby’s cries were clearly audible from outside – or maybe my ears are more attuned to it now. Getting louder and more hungry with each step, Dad gingerly entered the Pavilion. But she’d already sensed it, and Mum was up from her front row seat. Milliseconds later, baby was hushed.

An hour later, and Mum is at the microphone, her inspiring and informative words reassuring another kind of audience.

She is just one of a whole day’s line up of women who have all begun their creative wedding businesses themselves; who have learnt to juggle and adapt to parenthood; and who have made it work and decided to share what works with others just like them.

Sharing and leading others is what The Hub is all about – it’s what so many of us as women are about in this industry. Juggling business and family and leaving a day job behind – trying to fulfil an order when you should really be in bed. Not all of us are parents, but many of us are – or have been – juggling more than just the business at some point. It’s what helps us get started.

But those days can be lonely, tiresome, and get you downright stuck when there are areas of knowledge that you clearly lack – because let’s face it, we’re in it for our craft. Anything more than that is learnt by late nights devouring another marketing book, scouring the net for a sales course, or by almost happy accident through a previous career.

So knowing there’s a network of support, equals and leaders that can treat you with the respect you deserve is paramount to getting your business to the next level of happiness you sought when you started out on that path. The Hub was and is all of that – a day full of speakers that can tell you how to be authentic in business, who know what that uncertainty feels like, who can tell you (actually tell you) how to outrank your competitors on google, how to win business through Pinterest (seriously? – I know!), how to attract and serve your clients like you both deserve.

It’s a group of ready and waiting mentors who can help you to push through when that all-nighter hits you at 10am the next day and you’re not sure whether what you’re doing is really working. And it’s meeting new friends over the yummiest cake, good coffee and amazing decor that you’ll want to recommend to all your brides!

Let the Hub be a kindly lesson to us all – take time out to concentrate on you and your business.”

I've always had an unfounded belief that anyone can be anything they want to be. Most probably fuelled by my love for Peter Pan (JM Barrie you have a lot to answer for!) I honestly believe its fully possible for anyone to create a life that they love through their creative passions. Always having had a creative heart I have spent my life dabbling in and out of various media, studied Fine Art Photography as a degree and have worked with over 3,000 creatives since starting my own business. Having reached a point where I have a great quality of life from the way I am able to work, I am now fully dedicated to helping others push forward with their own creative businesses to gain a life that they love and a business that works for them. You'll find me happiest out walking with my dog Nell, travelling the world with my Mister, working from my home studio or at the flower market gathering natures gifts for my latest photography project.
